In the realm of healthcare education, the Home Health Aide course serves as a foundational stepping stone, offering training in entry-level skills within the healthcare field. This program equips students with the fundamental knowledge and basic skills essential for entering advanced Health and Medical Sciences programs or securing entry-level employment as a home health aide. The curriculum encompasses a comprehensive range of topics, preparing students for the diverse responsibilities associated with providing care in private homes or other healthcare settings. Access to a clinical training facility is deemed essential for a well-rounded learning experience.

In parallel, the Nurse Aide I course, a regulated program under the Virginia Board of Nursing, marks the beginning of occupational preparation for students at the 11th-grade level. This course delves into the study of nursing occupations within the broader healthcare system. Students explore topics such as growth and development across the lifespan, simple body structure and function, medical terminology, infection prevention, and disease processes. The curriculum introduces students to the essential concepts of patient-nurse aide relationships, vital signs measurement and recording, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and general patient care. Additionally, work-based learning opportunities may be integrated into the course, providing students with practical, hands-on experiences in a healthcare setting.

Building upon the foundation laid in Nurse Aide I, the Nurse Aide II course elevates the focus to advanced clinical care. Emphasizing body systems and diseases, students gain skills training and hands-on clinical experiences in caring for acute medical-surgical patients, the chronically ill, and the elderly. Work-based learning within a healthcare facility becomes an integral part of this course, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings. Throughout the course, students are required to maintain American Heart Association's Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) training, ensuring readiness for emergency situations.
